U7 Lite to U7 Pro XGS: the Wi-Fi 7 lineup, sorted
First, the honest question: do you need WiFi 7 at all? If your clients are mostly phones and laptops from the last two years, yes — they'll use the 6 GHz band and the wider channels, and you'll feel it. If the house runs on older gear, a WiFi 6 AP still serves fine and costs less. We wrote up the full reasoning in Wi-Fi 7, explained.
Decided on 7? Here's the lineup, cheapest first.
U7 Lite — $125
The budget entry. It speaks WiFi 7 but skips the 6 GHz band, so think of it as "WiFi 7 efficiency at WiFi 6 reach." Right for apartments, secondary rooms, and dense deployments where you're buying three of something.
U7 Pro — $235
The default answer. Tri-band including 6 GHz, 2.5 GbE uplink, ceiling-mount. If you read nothing else: most homes want one or two U7 Pros and they're done. It's our best seller for a reason.
U7 Pro Max — $349
The U7 Pro with a stronger radio set for dense client loads — more spatial streams where it counts. Worth it for open-plan offices, big households where forty devices wake up at once, or anywhere one AP must do the work of two.
U7 Pro XG — $249 and U7 Pro XGS — $375
The 10G-uplink models. On multi-gig internet, a 2.5G uplink becomes the cap; these remove it. The XGS adds the higher-capacity radios on top. Buy these only after the switch side can feed them — a 10G AP on a gigabit port is just an expensive ceiling light.
The specials
The U7 Pro Wall ($249) mounts flat on a wall box for hotels, hallways and retrofits. The U7 Pro Outdoor ($349) is the weatherproof one — patio, barn, gate camera backhaul.
The WiFi 6 value plays
Still solid, still supported: the U6+ ($159) for straightforward coverage, and the U6 Mesh ($225) where running cable isn't happening this year.
